Red october

12Oct08

I had a red week again, i’m down 7 BI for this week. I’ve lost 3 BI vs a guy who was all in each hand and after this i’ve played tilted and i lost 4 more.

My goals for the upcoming week:

– play 7k hands

– + 7 BI

– watch all Jared Tandler videos from stox

– review my bigest loosers and winners after each session

– weekly review my HH with a partner

– read 7 threads from 2+2 sticky

– move my fat ass to the gym, 4 times

Sweet october

05Oct08

I had a great week. I’ve played my A game all the time, i was very lucky to meet some great people and my game is improoving a lot. I’m very happy that i’m not making so many mistakes anymore and i’m glad that i found the FOLD button (i can find it even when i put money in the pot). I don’t know if i’m running hot, but poker seems so simple now,  especially when you play in position. It seems that we make it difficult.

Below is the graf for the last week, i’ve played very tight 13.8/10.7/4.1. My W$SD percentage improoved a lot, i’m around 55.8%.

I was very lucky to meet Mr. Micro NL Grinder, Alex. I had a sweat session with him and he reviewed a video for me. I’ve learned a lot and i’ve add a few tricks to my game. I feel like a football player after a training session with Ronaldinho. Thanks a lot Alex.

Also i’ve met Ray, he gaved me some solid advices about how to obtain maximum from a study group. I’m very sorry that i have not recorded the discussion we had, it was a interesting one. I like the way he thinks about poker and i’ve also learned a lot.

The only 2 objectives attained this week are: up 5 buyins and record a video session. My big leak is the lack of discipline, i wonder where i’ll be if if i achieve all my goals…

Here are the goals for next week:

  • – play 7k hands
  • – review after each session ( i don’t understand why i can’t do this), discuss interesting hands on the forums.
  • – Watch “From the ground up” series on DC and “Foundation of a poker player” on stox
  • – Discuss HH of the week with somebody
  • – Start going to the gym
  • – Update this blog weekly
  • – Expand my poker network

Hey guys,

it’s been a while since my last update, i had a great weeken.

Together with a few members from Card Runners, we put up a study group, called Micro Crushers. It’s just great, i love working with people from all over the world: Koreea, UK, United States, China, it’s just great. Everyboby is willing to help eachother, everybody wants to improove his game, i think we will have good results pretty soon.

And now let’s move to my goals for the upcoming week:

– play 7.000 hands

– up 5 BI at the end of the week

– read everything about c betting, 3 betting and raising from 2+2 stickyes and other sources

– watch on stoxpoker “The art of c betting”

– watch “Foundation of a poker player” on Stoxpoker and “From the ground up” on Deuces Cracked

– recording a video with me, 4 tablelling

– read Verneer’s thread Why can’t most people beat 200NL and below? from Card Runners and try to find patterns. I will make an excel file about this.

Just let me know if you have any sugestions about how to obtain maximum value from a study group.

At the end of this week, i will post the graph and a few interesting hands to discuss.

Have a green week in your trackers gents!

Kind regards,

Deal Done

Leave a comment if you want to join my poker network

Taking a break

Also, i just have ordered “Elements of poker” by Tommy Angelo and “The Poker Mindset” by Matthew Hilger; Ian Taylor. I need to understand the psychological aspects of the game. I hope this books will help me.

I think i’ll start to play again at the beginning of october.

Keep walking

20Sep08

First of all, i’ve deceided to switch to english. This way, i think i can get more quality guidance.

Here is a little update regarding my poker situation: i went busto again! Good poker lessons are very expansive: never play out of your bankroll!.

After a poor session at 10NL 6 MAX, i’ve tried to make the money back at 50NL HU. I lost 1 buyin here and after a 10 minute break i opened 2 tables of 25 NL 6 MAX. Here i took 2 bad beats and my roll is like Lehman Brothers: history

You can find below a very interesting advice from Frankie “SirNeb” on Card Runners

The skillset to be successful is not just having the set of technical skills to do your task well. Playing the cards is generally pretty straightforward, given time anybody can learn it. But the skill that allow you to keep playing, keep pushing yourself is extremely difficult. Why do you think people time and time again keep failing to achieve their goals in their lifetime? It’s because they don’t have what it takes to DISCIPLINE themselves to achieve it.

You are basically at the beginning of your poker journey. You need to learn to be disciplined. The following are basic things what I think a starting player needs to be doing to be successful:

a.) NEVER play games you are not bankrolled for.
b.) NEVER play tilting

It all pretty much sums up to being discipline to ALWAYS make good decisions for yourself. The STAKE is too great for failing, you don’t just fail at the tables, you fail achieving ALL things you desire. You fail at your goals, not just your poker goals but your life goals. And you WILL continue to fail until you learn to be disciplined. Learn it now or be a failure all your life.
